There is no place in the world quite like New York City’s heart- Manhattan. Even as a lifelong New Yorker, the city’s energy is unendingly electrifying. Something truly exists for every person (and Instagram feed!). These spots will leave you speechless, as well as up your Instagram game. So let’s get into it
1) The Top Of The Rock
No culmination of words could accurately describe the beauty of this stop. Start at the entrance on 50th Street and soar 850 feet to the “top of the rock” by elevator. The Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, and the Chrysler Building are a few famous landmarks visible.
INSTAGRAM TIP: Get there approximately an hour before sunset. The versatility of this spot is amazing- take pictures with the sun still up, at sunset, and at night. Make sure to hike up to the 70th floor because it is outside!

2) The New York Public Library, Schwarzman Building
You’re probably thinking, “It’s a library, Ariel. Can you really get Instagram pictures there?” The answer is absolutely yes. The Schwarzman Building is lovingly referred to as “the palace” by myself and friends. It is an unforgettable stop. No reading is required.
INSTAGRAM TIP: If you’re looking for a unique spot with a sprinkle of vintage, the DeWitt Wallace Periodical Room on the first floor is perfect. It is also usually less crowded than Rose Hall, the main reading room.

3) The Flatiron Building
It’s one of those iconic buildings that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. The triangular shape is unique and a stark contrast to the sky rise buildings surrounding it. It was built in 1902 and stands 22 stories high! Innovative for the time it was built!
INSTAGRAM TIP: The stone outside of this building is meant to accommodate those seeking some photogenic pictures. Madison Square Park is a great view of the building and has serious Instagram potential.
4) Phillip A. and Lisa Maria Falcone Flyover on the High Line
This section of the High Line walk is sure to give you postable pictures. Any angle has Instagram potential in all honestly. Get your camera ready, and don’t be afraid to try out some new angles!
INSTAGRAM TIP: The Flyover is about 8 feet above the high line walk and you will be at the same height as a stretch of trees and expansive plants. If you want some nature incorporated into your post, this is the spot for sure.

5) Fifth Avenue
Super upscale and high class, Fifth Avenue is known as the shopping district. Get some shopping in, as well as some cute Instagram photos!
INSTAGRAM TIP: Many of the commercial shopping stores on Fifth Avenue have multiple levels. The upper levels have massive windows that look out onto the city streets below. Don’t be afraid to bring that camera into the store and take some Instagram pics!

6) The Vessel
This stunning architectural structure has recently been opened to the public (March 2019). The subway essentially stops right next to it which is extremely convenient. It is also FREE which is unusual for tourist attractions in New York. The view from the top is spectacular and gives a great view of the Hudson River!
INSTAGRAM TIP: This stop can get crowded throughout the day, so it is highly suggested to head out earlier than the regular crowd to get those stunning Instagram photos.

7) The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Lovingly called “The Met”, this museum is adored by tourists and locals alike. Its sleek layout is kept extremely well maintained. Every period of art is depicted somewhere in this endless museum. It’s a beautiful museum and definitely a full day stop if you want to see everything it has to offer.
INSTAGRAM TIP: Sometimes, the museum opens its expansive rooftop. Make sure to ask personnel, as it is absolutely gorgeous. And a great place for Instagram pictures!

8) Sheep Meadow In Central Park
As a New Yorker, this is my personal go to spot to relax and enjoy the scenery Manhattan has to offer. It seriously never gets old. The workers keep it immaculate- literally sparkling clean. The views of the city skyline are unforgettable from this beautifully maintained lawn.
INSTAGRAM TIP: Bring a cute solid colored blanket that matches your Instagram feed color (if you have one). Lay it out on the grass and take pictures from all different angles.
ANOTHER THOUGHT: Sheep Meadow is a large park, so it might not be a bad idea to rent a bike. If you’re looking for some Instagram pictures, one with a vintage looking bike could be a hit!

9) Grand Central Station, Main Concourse
Although it is a working train station hosting a variety of railways, its beauty is immeasurable and makes for great Instagram pictures. It also houses modern cafes and high end restaurants (personal favorite is the Oyster Bar) on the lower level.
INSTAGRAM TIP: The pictures on the steps of Grand Central come out gorgeous. To get some photo op time, make sure to come to the station during periods that are not crazy, such as rush hour.

10) Times Square
Walking through Times Square for the first time will be one of the most profound travel experiences you will ever have. The flashing billboards, street performers, shops, and overall energy will leave you breathless. Also, if you are a theatre junkie, they sell same day Broadway Tickets for bargain prices right next to the Red Steps!
INSTAGRAM TIP: Right in the center of Times Square is a prominent structure called the Red Steps. The vantage point is higher there so you can capture both this fantastic trademark structure as well as the beauty of the New York City!
